Information for DCDS Parents and Teens

Attention students/parents of DCDS: The RMV is actively dealing with the unfortunate situation that you have been put in. The RMV must first find out where each student in within the program and then will issue you an 'official' RMV letter that you can take to any other driving school to finish your requirements.

The RMV will also address any monetary issues you have with the former school. Some of you have already received your letters from the RMV.

The TDA will help you obtain your license. We are willing to help you through this difficult time and help you finish your requirements. Please follow the steps below if you wish to finish your driver's education with TDA.

Lastly, we realize that this situation is not your fault. We are happy to try and help you through this difficult time and thanks for giving us the opportunity to help.

We have tried to break each section down as only some sections may apply to each teen. Please read carefully each section that applies to you.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS IN ORDER TO COME WITH TDA:

1. Send us an email using our 'Contact Us' link to the left lower section of our website. Fill in the form as follows:
Name, Address, City, State, Phone, and Email. In the 'COMMENTS SECTION', please put DCDS IN CAPITAL LETTERS, Permit number, Birthdate, and just a quick note that you are DCDS and joining TDA.

2. Scan and email or fax us the copy of the RMV letter you received with what you have completed so far. If you haven't received it yet, you can send your DCDS driving card they issued you in the meantime to get started. However, we will eventually need the official letter to send for your driver's education certificate at the end. You can email it to info@teachersdrivingacademy.com or fax to 508.455.2803

3. You can now start booking DRIVING lessons. We only book driving lessons online. Don't worry, it is not that hard. You must have completed the two steps above before you start booking or your lessons will automatically be deleted. Follow these steps:
a. Go to 'schedule a road lesson'
b. Click on town for pickup location
c. Select a service (example: 1 hour drive/1 hour observation)
d. Select a vehicle--ALWAYS SELECT "NO PREFERENCE". This will search all the available times and cars for you to get the best options
e. Select a date and time and then fill in the boxes as required.
f. Once you complete it, the lessons is YOURS! It will automatically send you a confirmation email and also a 24 hr reminder. It's that easy.

**The TDA driving price is $50 per driving hour behind the wheel. There is no charge for observation hours. This price has been in effect for over six (6) years and we are in no way trying to take advantage of anyone in a difficult situation.

Driving lessons can be paid on the day of the lesson by check or cash. You also have the option of paying online on our website. If you choose to pay online, please pay BEFORE the scheduled road lesson.

The RMV is working to obtain any monetary funds you spent with the former schools' bond that was posted and required by law. The RMV will work on your behalf to recoup your money. We know this is frustrating, but we have no control on the monetary issues nor the speed it takes to be reimbursed.

Remember, the TDA is trying to help you get through this situation. We ARE NOT taking advantage of anyone in anyway. We have not altered prices and are trying to accommodate the DCDS students as well as our TDA students.

NOTE: Some calls came in from parents asking why we charged so much money as they paid $300 or so for the class portion and $300 or so for the 12 hours of driving lessons. They then paid for the parent class as well. Whatever, the prior company did to list their prices, it was their sales marketing plan, not TDA's. IT WAS A SALES MARKETING PLAN THAT GOT CUSTOMERS TO PAY UPFRONT. We, the TDA, do not believe in those marketing plans. By the time you added up TDA's classroom fees, driving lessons, and free parent class; WE CAME OUT TO BE LESS EXPENSIVE. We just want to clarify that we are not 'price gouging' and are prices are the same as they have always been.**

4. Classroom makeup:
For those who need to make up classroom portion, you can see our schedules under the 'classroom schedule' link. You can look at each location and see what modules are running on specific dates and times. Follow the steps for makeup:
a. Go to the specific modules you need to make up at the location that is running that 'specific module'. You DO NOT need to pre-register.
b. Tell the teacher you are from DCDS and making up a class module.
c. Sign in on the sheet and clearly mark in CAPITAL LETTERS 'DCDS' next to your name.
d. Bring your DCDS class/driving card and have a TDA teacher sign that as well to assure you get proper credit.

**For those students that have 10 hours or less of CLASSROOM makeup to perform to finish the 30 hour class, there will be NO CHARGE from the TDA. If you have more than 10 hours to complete, we ask you to use the registration form and officially register for a respective session. The price for the 30 hour class is as follows:
Mansfield $59
Norton $59
Foxboro $80
Attleboro $80

5. Parent Classes:
The TDA does NOT CHARGE parents to attend the mandatory 2 hr class required by the RMV.
a. You can see the dates on our 'classroom schedule' link under 'parent classes'. You do NOT NEED to pre-register.
b. Just come into one of our sessions and take the class if needed.
c. Please clearly mark DCDS next to your name when you sign into class.

If you already have taken the class, please email or fax us a copy of that letter at the address/number listed above.

6. Road Testing:
The TDA does NOT go to the RMV during the week. We only have testing on Saturdays as we pay the RMV to come to our Mansfield location and test the teens. If you want to go with TDA on a Saturday, follow the steps below and also refer to our 'Saturday test faq' section: The optional Saturday test fee is $90 to all students
a. Go to the 'Schedule My Road Test' link on OUR TDA site
b. Fill out the form as required-put 'DCDS' in CAPITAL LETTERS where you enter the requested date for the test
c. You must do so a minimum of 2 weeks in advance and be FINISHED all requirements for driver's education at least 2 weeks in advance as well. Currently, our earliest spots are on June 9th, 2012. This is the earliest date as of today (May 16th) that you can go with TDA on a Saturday.
d. An email will be sent to you on Wednesday before the test with all the test information
