Alternative-Hours Road Tests and Online Permit Testing

The RMV is working closely with the Massachusetts’ Reopening Advisory Board on restarting the administration of road tests as safely and quickly as possible. We are also providing more online alternatives to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and maintain safety, while conducting business as efficiently as possible.

As the RMV announced earlier this week, public road tests (held Monday through Friday at RMV Service Centers) have begun for students who had a road test scheduled in March, April, or May that was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Alternative-hours road tests are starting with priority given to driving schools/applicants that had previously scheduled road tests cancelled during the weekend of March 14.

Alternative/Off-Hours Road Tests

Professional Driving Schools may now schedule alternative/off-hours road tests for eligible applicants. Alternative/off-hours road tests will begin with priority being given to those schools/applicants that had previously scheduled road tests during the weekend of March 14 cancelled due to the pandemic.

This is where we stand as a driving school.  The RMV is conducting road tests for those that were cancelled in MARCH and moving forward.  The RMV HAS JUST STARTED road tests.  We hope they work out any issues, and we can catch up with more available testing as they move forward.  WE ARE AT THE RMV'S MERCY on what they decide and it changes as things progress.

WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER to try and get you all a road test.  AT THIS TIME, the RMV is moving from the backlog and moving forward.  We promise to keep you updated as things progress but this is the ONLY info we have to give at this time.

YOU WILL BE CONTACTED as soon as the RMV ALLOWS you to test for your license.

DUE TO THE BACKLOG, you may be notified for a test MON-FRI instead of weekend.  WE WILL NOTIFY YOU ASAP and will take whatever they can do to get you tested.

We completely understand that this is not what you want to hear.  Unfortunately, the PANDEMIC has caused issues that we can't control and will keep you updated as soon as we know.
